hours or minutes away from shutting down major hospitals full of wounded

do not be cheated by 80 wounded passing through rafah today
(and 10 of them already unfortunately indeed in the ambulances)
the severely wounded are in the thousands and the count never stops as Israeli hits most populated areas, there seem to be a trend: make people to concentrate  and then hit.

Frequently asked questions, answers, and documentation on Gaza An evolving document compiled by young Palestinian media activists

October 2023

1. What is the background on Israel/Palestine?

Israel was built on top of Palestine through the ethnic cleansing of the native Palestinians, a long-standing Zionist policy that resulted in 8 million Palestinians becoming refugees or displaced people and the rest enclosed in ghettos/bantustans (1) based on a set of myths and distortions of reality to justify colonization (2).

2. What is the Gaza strip and what is its background?

Gaza is a sliver of land along the Mediterranean Coast. Per the 1947 UNGA partition resolution, Gaza’s area was many times more than what it is now, and it was to be under the UNGA 181 but during 1948, Israel removed 247 villages and towns, including Asqalan (now Israeli Ashkelon) and Najd (now Sderot). Most of them were pushed (including on boats from Jaffa) to be squeezed in the open-air prison called the Gaza ‘Strip’. Thus 2/3rd of the current population (2.3 million, 60% of which are below 18) of the squeezed Gaza ghetto are refugees, a concentration area of “surplus people”. After Israel’s occupation of the Strip in 1967, Israel conducted numerous attacks on the area including in 1974, 1981, 1987-1991, 1997, 2000, 2008, 2014, 2018/2019, and 2021. The nonviolent 2018-2019 march of return by unarmed civilians was met by Israeli forces’ systemic targeting, massacring these civilians. The violence against people living in crowded Gaza had been ongoing for decades- see other questions and answers below. The events of 7 October 2023 that took Israel by surprise and caused pain and suffering is precisely what Palestinian were faced with many fold over in the past 75 years (33 massacres in 1948 alone and hundreds more since then including the lates series of massacres commnitted in Gaza in October 2023) (3)

It is a must; fuel needs to be delivered now into Gaza to make water available for 2 million people,” said Philippe Lazzarini, UNRWA Commissioner-General. Before this crisis, the United Nations has stated that Gaza may well be unlivable by 2020: safe drinking water has almost disappeared, the economy is cratering and “the state of unlive-ability is upon us”, he said, urging the international community to insist that all parties bring an immediate end to this disaster. https://www.un.org/unispal/document/auto-insert-195081/

3. What is happening now in the West Bank and 1948 areas of Palestine and how is this related to Gaza?

The West Bank (including Jerusalem) and Gaza have been under a brutal Israeli military occupation since 1967. This occupation is illegal per international law (illegality of acquisition of territory by war, see below). Israeli settlers built, and continue to build colonial residential and industrial setlements in these occupied areas. Since the PLO signed an agreement which recognized Israel in 1993, it was hoped that after an interim period of 5 years of negotiations, a Palestinian state in Gaza and the West Bank would be formed with currently Israeli-occupied East Jerusalem as its capital (the Oslo accords). Instead, the last 30 years saw an increase in the number of illegal Israeli colonial settlers squatting on Palestinian lands in the West Bank (now 970,000 settlers). Palestinians were removed from their lands and homes and squeezed into Bantustans/ghettos in the West Bank and this process is ongoing (in just the past two years, 22 communities in the WB were removed). Before this latest escalation on 7 October, Israel has killeds 300 Palestinians in the West Bank including 38 children and two American citizens. Ben Gvir was unleashed by Netanyahu to arm settlers and gave the green light to them and to the apartheid terrorist army to shoot to kill and commit now well documented pogroms such as at Huwwara and Turmusayya. This only intensified when on 7 October Israeli forces sealed off all our ghettos so that people are trapped (for example Bethlehem people cannot get to Ramallah or Jericho). 106 Palestinians were thus killed in the West Bank since 7 October alone (18 days). Since the occupation in 1967, the Palestinian economy has been devastated, natural resources are stolen and given to colonial settlers, and there are almost daily incursions into Palestinian cities and holy sites like Al-Aqsa mosque but all of this intensified under the extremely right wing government led by Netanyahu (4). Now there is discussion and revolt in Israeli society charging that the colossal failure of the Israeli government on 7 October 2023 and collaps of the Gaza front was directly related to diverting the army for land grab and settler protection in the West Bank. The latest attack on Nur Alshams refugee camp left 13 young Palestinians killed and Israel even bombed a mosque in Jenin 21 October 2023. Further, Palestinian political prisoners (nearly 10,000) in Israeli jails are now denied water and food by order of Ben Gvir (paralleling the denial of water and food of the larger Gaza prison). But even remaining Palestinian within the state of Israel did not escape continuing ethnic cleansing and are subject to APARTHEID laws with intensified racism and racist attacks increasing during the conflict in Gaza (5).

4. Does Israel have the right to defend itself?

First the premise that a colonizer is doing self-defense is itself a linguistic error. Colonizers use violence to achieve their cause of ethnic cleansing. This happened in all other colonial situations in over 170 countries. As an occupier/colonizer that was created by ethnic cleansing of the local people beginning in 1948 and continuing today, the Israeli regime defends its illegitimate colonization project (itself based on violence). The claim that Hamas presence as a guerrilla force among the Palestinians in Gaza is also not an excuse for violating basics of warfare and targeting civilians. Afterall, Israeli military facilities are also inside Israeli cities but this does not justify targeting civilians. Further Israeli authorities themselves openly declared that they are punishing the population of Gaza (not fighters from Gaza) by bombing them without warning and starving them. (6)

5. Do Palestinians have a right to resist?

Yes, international law does stipulate that local people have a right and obligation to resist oppression of course consistent with International law (7). Israel’s 75 years of oppression on millions of people cannot be ignored to demand quiescent victims (8). The struggle for freedom in South Africa and Algeria or other colonial situations was not delegetimized when (a minority) of natives as individuals or groups targeted colonial settlers. Ending colonization is always the only way to end both the resistance and the much larger violence of the colonizers. But we also recognize that most resistance in the past 100 years by Palestinians has been popular (non-violent) resistance. Certainly less violent than most other colnial-anti-colonial struggles.(9)

6. Does Israel commit breaches of international law and human rights conventions?

From its inception, Israel ethnically cleansed Palestinians (a breach of international law, including the Geneva Conventions). Israel was admitted to the UN only when it agreed to implement UN resolutions, including UNGA 181 and 194, but Israel refused to implement them. Subsequently Israel has violated over 70 UN Security Council Resolutions and hundreds of UNGA resolutions. In the most recent October 2023 conflict in Gaza and as a matter of policy even when there is no conflict, Israel engaged in collective punishment, many cases of which are verifiable war crimes and crimes against humanity. All human rights organizations (AI, HRW, PHR, B’Tselem) and global organizations (UN, WHO, etc) denounced collective punishment, including carpet bombing of residential buildings, denial of basics of life (water, food, medicines, fuel), and use of white phosphorous on civilian areas. (10) If we take just the UN Declaration on Human Rights, which ironically Israel and the US signed, we find Israel breaching just about every article. Israel intentionally targets Palestinian civilians and commits human righst abuses on large scale amounting to crimes against humanity and war crimes including including via collective punishment and outright genocide now well documented (11).

7. Is Israel ruled by rational people?

The criminality of Israeli leaders including their racist statements about indigenous people is highly documented, and continues openly (12). Israeli leaders have always chosen to use their military might to achieve their objectives of colonization. Yitzhaq Rabin, who came the closest to recognizing some need to compromise and allow some margin of freedom for some Palestinians, was assassinated by a right wing Zionist. Since then, Israeli leadership has shifted to become more racist and fascist (e.g. having settlers like Smotrich and Ben Gvir in the cabinet).

Moshe Feiglin: The only solution is the “complete destruction of Gaza” [https://youtu.be/rjLW847tvig?feature=shared]

8. What about children?

No other country violates the rights of children or kills them in such large numbers as Israel. Defense of Children International documented countless cases of child abductions, detentions, severe interrogation amounting to torture, and outright killing. Just in the period of 7 October – 15 October 2023 Israel killed 720 children and injured about 2500. (13)

9. Does the Zionist movement/government and their media arms in the west lie to advance their cause of colonization?

Yes, daily. This is more blatant in Gaza but has been going for 75 years. The Israeli newspaper Haaretz (7/15/01) reported that: “… giving his audience (Likud leaders) a bit of advice on how to deal with foreign interviewers (Benjamin Netanyahu said): ‘Always, irrespective of whether you’re right or not, you must always present your side as right'”. Indeed from its inception, the Israeli government and its agents abroad have lied. There were false flag operations like the Lavon Affair, or the bombing of Jewish community centers in Iraq to blame it on locals and scare Iraqi Jews to leave their country (14). Hasbara (propaganda) is a very common Zionist tactic to advance their project of colonization. During the October 2023 incidents Israeli leaders lied about Hamas killing and beheading babies, about Israeli soldiers killing Israeli citizens, or even about wanting peace and set the stage for ongoing genocide (15).

10. Did the Palestinians have a fair chance to tell their stories in the Western world?

As the late professor Edward Said articulated clearly, Palestinian voices are methodically suppressed. This only intensified as the Zionist movement increased its grip on Western media, which then silenced Palestinian voices. In the US for example, distorted, misleading and outright false coverage as a result of the strong Zionist lobbies (16). Free speech must be protected in all countries: in Palestine Israeli forces shoot you for demonstrating, meanwhile Germany, France and Belgium are trying to outlaw free speech or demonstrations addressing human rights/international law/Palestine and even balanced reporters harassed or fired (17).

11. Does Israel destroy infrastructure and livelihoods of innocent people for revenge?

Yes, and the deliberate destruction of infrastructure is illegal per International law. (18)

(18) https://www.btselem.org/press_releases/20231015_suffering_does_not_justify_suffering_and_one_injustice_does_not_justify_another_and_one_crime_does_not_warrant_another https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/10/13/what-infrastructure-in-gaza-has-been-damaged-since-israels-assault; Human Rights organizations on the carnage in Gaza

12. Is Israel a democracy?

At least 65 Israeli laws exist that discriminate against non-Jewish citizens, alongside hundreds more laws which apply to people living under occupation. Human rights organizations (AI, HRW, PHR, etc.), including local ones like B’Tselem, have called the dual legal system apartheid. (19)

(19) See Adalah database of racist laws; The seven most racist Israeli laws; http://apartheidweek.org/resources/; https://www.hrw.org/report/2021/04/27/threshold-crossed/israeli-authorities-and-crimes-apartheid-and-persecution; 300 groups call on the UN to investigate apartheid

13. Is this a religious war?

Absolutely not. While the Zionists have used Judaism as an excuse and weaponized it in their attacks on the native people, the colonial and apartheid system does not discriminate in its victimization of native Christians, Muslims, Druze, Bahai, or Atheists. All non-Jews were targeted for ethnic cleansing, with the exception of the self-proclaimed Christian Zionists (21). Palestinian and non-Palestinian Christians have been outspoken for human rights. Jews have also been the most outspoken (21). But Israel’s use of religion to try to justify its colonization does lead to targeting and harming the religious sites and sensibilities of other religions. This is part of the reason why the state facilitates settler attacks on Al-Aqsa mosque (3rd holiest site in Islam), which has influenced uprisings like the last one (22).

14. Who is profiting from colonialism and war?

All wars historically have been initiated based on geoplotics related to greed (money and theft of natural resources and land). Religion and ethnicity are used to rally people around a cause that ultimately is profitable to some small segment of the population. The Zionists decided to take a country from its ownewrs and ended up stealing all its natural resources (even a fully developed airport renamed from Lydda Airport to BenGurion airport), posrts, farms, water resources etc. Regarding Gaza, Netanyahu regime had eyes to dissolve the Palestine question and create an alternative to China’s Belt and Road initiative that connects East to West via “Israel” (including Gaza) and Israeli dominated gulf states ncluding Saudi Arabia. This is what he called the new Middle East. Netanyahu showed this plan in maps at his speech to the UN General Assembly months ago. Thre are even plans for an alternative canal from Eilat to Gaza to rival the Suez canal. It is not a coincidence that the discovery of huge Gas fields off the Gaza coast preceded blockade on Gaza in 2006. Israel covets those fields and wants them to be the main source of Gazz to Europe to replace Russian gas (conveniently pipelines connecting Russia to Europe were bombed). Dozens of companies profit tremendously from war. Stocks of Raytheon and General Dynamics went up 15-20% in the first three weeks of genocide in Gaza. Also, Gaza has been a testing laboratory for Israeli arms manufacturers and is critical for flowing funds to the military and industrial complex in Israel. Israeli weapons and security related sales bring in billions to Israeli elites and even compete with traditional exporters of such destruction like the USA. Israeli importers and the government (via tax) profited handsomely even from the humanitarian aid to Gaza and the WB that comes through Israel (23)

15. Why do some Western countries and some Arab governments (most dictators) support and normalize Israel?

Israel gets nearly $4 billion in military aid annually from the US and gets protection from prosecution under international law by use of the US veto power at the UN. This collusion with apartheid is carried out even against US law (24). Part of it has to do with the history of those countries themselves being colonial and imperial powers who have killed millions of natives and “understand” what it takes for colonization (25). Furthermore, the US military industrial complex benefits from this funding to Israel, as a large portion of the funding can only be spent purchasing weapons directly from US arm dealers (26). Another part of it is the strong Zionist lobbies in Western countries (27). For some Arab dictatorships, it is because they are dependent on the US and some other Western countries to stay in power against the wishes of the people, or because they believe the US hegemony will last forever. This complicity and normalization are what has encouraged Israel to violate human rights and increased chances of the kind of resistance we have seen in October 2023 (28). But among people of the world, there is great sympathy and support for Palestine (29).

16. What should be done about the situation?

Let us be very clear: Palestinains will keep fights for freedom and justice (supported by decent people around teh world including Jews) despite over 200 massacres, 8 million refugees, bantustans/concentration camps in which remaining Palestinians live, and an ongoing genocide in Gaza. Amnesty International has said, “The root causes of these repeated cycles of violence must be addressed as a matter of urgency. This requires upholding international law and ending Israel’s 16-year-long illegal blockade on Gaza, and all other aspects of Israel’s system of apartheid imposed on all Palestinians.” (30) Implementing International law, human rights, and justice are essential to stopping these cycles of violence. Justice means the return of Palestinian refugees, the abolition of apartheid laws, and full equality regardless of religion. Palestinians have put together two proposals: in 1968 they proposed a democratic secular state for all its people and in 1988 a twpo state solution with the rights of refugees to return to their homes and lands. Zionism rejected both solutions. If some in the western world still believes in a “two state solution” as a step towards peace, then they must insist on full withdrawal (i.e. all illegal settlements evacuated) from the 1967 occupied territories (West Bank, including East Jerusalem; Gaza; and the Golan Heights) and allow Palestine to be a state with full sovereignty (including natural resources, borders, etc). In either case, apartheid laws should be ended and refugees should be allowed to return or compensated per UNGA resolution 194.(31). The global community is with Palestine (the people are) while many western governments and corporate media eroded their own democracies to support the genocidal apargrtheid Israeli regime because of the lobbies and suppress voices of reason and human rights. In Belgium, france, and Germany governments forcefully limited free speech. In other countries such as the UK/USA, governments go against the wishes of their people (32)

Press Release and Human Rights Appeal

The International Commission to Support Palestinians’ rights I.C.S.P. R
An independent non-governmental organization of occupied-Palestine State -Gaza Strip

Date: October 29, 2023

Time: 13:00 local time

Original Language: Arabic

Press Release and Human Rights Appeal

The International Commission “Hashd” calls for the formation of an international humanitarian alliance to implement the United Nations General Assembly’s resolution, which calls for an end to aggression, the protection of civilians, and the assurance of meeting the humanitarian needs of the people in the Gaza Strip.

On the twenty-third day of the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, more of the humanitarian tragedy that the remaining population in the Gaza Strip is enduring is being revealed. After partial restoration of communication and the internet, the civil defense announced the discovery of dismembered bodies of citizens on the streets. The Israeli occupation forces exploited the disruption of communications to intensify the fires and devastating incendiary devices in various areas of the Gaza Strip that have been heavily targeted by aerial, naval, and ground shelling.

Israeli occupation forces have committed dozens of massacres against families and caused extensive destruction in areas and neighborhoods targeted by the attacks, using various types of weapons.

The number of victims of the aggression has risen to 1.5% of the population of the Gaza Strip, including killed, wounded, and missing individuals. So far, 8005 citizens have been martyred, including 3,342 children and 2,062 women. 460 of those killed were children, and 30% of them were women. In addition, 116 paramedics and medical personnel, as well as 34 journalists, have been killed. Over 2,000 people are still missing, half of whom are children, due to the widespread war crimes and brutal attacks by land, sea, and air, and the use of deadly force without regard for the principles of distinction, military necessity, and humanity. The most serious violation is the targeting of families and the demolition of their homes over their heads without prior warning as a recurring pattern in the ongoing genocide, resulting in massacres against 881 families, with 20% of them erased from the civil registry.

Since the start of the aggression, a level of firepower not used since the 1973 war has been deployed, according to the Israeli army’s admission. Thousands of tons of explosives have been dropped, equivalent to detonating a nuclear bomb over a 360 square kilometer area. Various types of weapons, including heavy concussion bombs emitting toxic chemical gases and white phosphorus, have been and continue to be used to destroy homes, residential areas, civilian infrastructure, and economic facilities. More than half of the homes and buildings in the Gaza Strip have been destroyed or damaged, leading to a daily increase in the forced displacement of Palestinians, numbering about 1.6 million people, half of whom are children. They are living in conditions of oppression, fear, and the absence of minimal conditions for human life in shelters or in the homes of relatives and friends who have taken them in.

The continued suffocating blockade, collective punishment, the closure of crossings, and the interruption of electricity, water, telecommunications, and partial or total internet services, as well as the prevention and hindrance of access to humanitarian aid, medical supplies, relief materials, and necessary fuel for the operation of the power station to ensure the availability of drinking water, hospital generators, ambulances, and civil defense vehicles, has caused most of them to cease operation. Most vital medical devices have stopped working, endangering the lives of patients and the injured. In addition to the threat to hospitals, the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza, Al-Quds Hospital, and Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City are under threat of forced evacuation through shelling, amid false Israeli accusations against these hospitals to justify their targeting, destruction, and the completion of the evacuation of Gaza and northern governorates forcibly.

On the twenty-third day, most water wells, bakeries, water treatment plants, and waste disposal services have partially or completely stopped due to direct targeting and the lack of energy or fuel, making it impossible to retrieve hundreds of bodies from under the rubble. This has led to the spread of infectious diseases and epidemics, especially among the Gaza Strip’s population in shelter centres, particularly among children who have not had access to a single bath since the start of the aggression. In addition to the shortage of healthcare, clean water, sanitation in shelter centres, and a lack of food and health supplies.

According to the monitoring by The International Commission “Hashd” the humanitarian crisis is increasing day by day due to the scarcity of water, food, and aid, and the long queues for hours in front of bakeries and water stations, which continue to operate to a limited extent in the Gaza Strip, indicating the catastrophic and tragic humanitarian situation experienced by the people of the Gaza Strip.

The International Commission to Support Palestinians Rights (Hashd) affirms, based on its monitoring and all previous evidence and indicators and hearing from survivors, that the Israeli occupation continues to deliberately target civilians, especially children and women, and to destroy the homes of citizens, as well as civilian and service facilities, infrastructure, commercial stores, food stores, agricultural lands, and economic facilities, as part of a systematic campaign of destruction and genocide, revealing an Israeli policy aimed at turning the Gaza Strip into an uninhabitable area. This is reinforced by the false racist statements of Israeli officials that justify the heinous crimes committed in the Gaza Strip, which themselves confirm the deliberate commission of genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing, and crimes against humanity.

The International Commission to Support Palestinians Rights (Hashd) welcomes the decision of the United Nations General Assembly under the slogan “United for Peace,” which calls for an end to the aggression, the protection of civilians and civilian property, and ensuring the flow of humanitarian aid, medical supplies, and relief to the people of the Gaza Strip. It also welcomes all international positions rejecting aggression and condemning the crimes of genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity, as well as the serious violations by the Israeli occupation in the West Bank, Jerusalem, with the toll reaching 116 martyrs and 1,560 arbitrary detainees since the start of the aggression, in addition to the attacks by settlers and incursions into holy sites.

The International Commission to Support Palestinians Rights (Hashd) calls for the necessity of translating international and Arab condemnations and appeals, especially those from the World Health Organization, the Red Cross, UNICEF, and other international and Arab organizations, into practical measures to stop the aggression, protect civilians, especially children and women, and ensure the flow of humanitarian aid to the people of the Gaza Strip to prevent the exacerbation of the humanitarian catastrophe.

The International Commission to Support Palestinians Rights (Hashd)demands the activation of all accountability mechanisms for the leaders and the Israeli occupation through national courts, the International Criminal Court, and the International Court of Justice.

The International Commission to Support Palestinians Rights (Hashd) calls on the free people of the world to intensify and continue international, regional, and Arab popular efforts to pressure third parties that are signatories to the Geneva Conventions and the countries of the world to fulfil their ethical and legal duties to protect civilians, apply the rules of international humanitarian law, and end the Israeli aggression and ongoing genocide against the Palestinians in the occupied territories.

Cosa è successo veramente il 7 ottobre? What really happened on 7th October?

Italian

Il prezzo fu terribile: furono uccise almeno 112 persone a Be’Eri.

Vogliamo portarti a Gaza.

English

Two weeks after the Hamas breakout assault on Israel on 7 October, a clearer picture of what happened – who died, and who killed – is now beginning to emerge.

Instead of the wholescale massacre of civilians claimed by Israel, incomplete figures published by the Hebrew newspaper Haaretz show that almost half the Israelis killed that day were in fact combatants – soldiers or police.

In the interim, two weeks of blanket western media reporting that Hamas allegedly killed around 1,400 Israeli civilians during its 7 October military attack has served to inflame emotions and create the climate for Israel’s unconstrained destruction of the Gaza Strip and its civilian population.

Accounts of the Israeli death toll have been filtered and shaped to suggest that a wholesale civilian massacre occurred that day, with babies, children, and women the main targets of a terror attack.

Now, detailed statistics on the casualties released by the Israeli daily Haaretz paint a starkly different picture. As of 23 October, the news outlet has released information on 683 Israelis killed during the Hamas-led offensive, including their names and locations of their deaths on 7 October.

Of these, 331 casualties – or 48.4 percent – have been confirmed to be soldiers and police officers, many of them female. Another 13 are described as rescue service members, and the remaining 339 are ostensibly considered to be civilians.

While this list is not comprehensive and only accounts for roughly half of Israel’s stated death toll, almost half of those killed in the melee are clearly identified as Israeli combatants.

There are also so far no recorded deaths of children under the age of three, which throws into question the Israeli narrative that babies were targeted by Palestinian resistance fighters. Of the 683 total casualties reported thus far, seven were between the ages of 4 and 7, and nine between the ages of 10 and 17. The remaining 667 casualties appear to be adults.

Age distribution of the Israelis killed during Hamas’ October 7 operation (as of 23 October).

The numbers and proportion of Palestinian civilians and children among those killed by Israeli bombardment over the past two weeks – over 5,791 killed, including 2,360 children and 1,292 women, and more than 18,000 injured – are far higher than any of these Israeli figures from the events of 7 October.

Revisiting the scene

The daring Hamas-led military operation, codenamed Al-Aqsa Flood, unfolded with a dramatic dawn raid at approximately 6:30 AM (Palestine time) on 7 October. This was accompanied by a cacophony of sirens breaking the silence of occupied Jerusalem, signaling the start of what became an extraordinary event in the occupation state’s 75-year history.

As per the spokesperson of Hamas’ armed wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, around 1,500 Palestinian fighters crossed the formidable Gaza-Israel separation barrier.

However, this breakout was not limited to Hamas forces alone; numerous armed fighters belonging to other factions such as Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) later breached the armistice line, along with some Palestinians unaffiliated with any organized militia.

As it became apparent this was no ordinary resistance operation, hundreds of videos quickly flooded social media, most of which have been viewed by The Cradle, depicting dead Israeli troops and settlers, fierce gunfire battles between various parties, and Israelis being taken captive into Gaza.

These videos were either taken on the phones of Israelis, or were released by Palestinian fighters filming their own operation. It wasn’t until hours later that more gruesome and downright dubious allegations began to surface.

Unsubstantiated allegations of ‘Hamas atrocities’

Aviva Klompas, a former speechwriter for the Israeli mission to the UN, was the first Israeli of note to spread the claim that there were reports of “Israeli girls being raped and their bodies dragged through the street.

She posted this on X at 9:18 PM (Palestine time), on 7 October, although an op-ed Klompa published with Newsweek at 12:28 AM (Palestine time), on 8 October, made no mention of any sexual violence.

Klompas is also the co-founder of Boundless Israel, a “think-action tank” that works “to revitalize Israel education and take bold collective action to combat Jew-hatred.” An “unapologetically Zionist” charitable group that works to promote Israeli narratives on social media.

The one case touted as proof of rape was that of a young German-Israeli woman named Shani Louk, who was filmed face down in the back of a pickup truck and was widely assumed dead.

It was unclear whether the fighters filmed with Louk in the Gaza-bound vehicle were members of Hamas, as they do not sport the uniforms or insignia of the Al-Qassam troops identifiable in other Hamas videos – some even wore casual civilian clothing and sandals.

Later, her mother claimed to have evidence that her daughter was still alive, but had suffered a severe head wound. This rings true with information released by Hamas that indicated Louk was being treated for her injuries at an unspecified Gaza hospital.

Complicating matters further, on the day these rape allegations arose, Israelis would not have had access to this information. Their armed forces had not yet entered many, if not most, of the areas liberated by the resistance and were still engaged in armed clashes with them on multiple fronts.

Nevertheless, these rape claims took on a life of their own, with even US President Joe Biden alleging, during a speech days later, that Israeli women were “raped, assaulted, paraded as trophies” by Hamas fighters. It is important to note that The Forward’s article on 11 October reported that the Israeli military acknowledged they had no evidence of such allegations at that point.

When the army later made its own allegations of decapitations, foot amputations, and rape, Reuters pointed out that “the military personnel overseeing the identification process didn’t present any forensic evidence in the form of pictures or medical records.” To date, there is no credible evidence of these atrocities that has been presented.

Other outrageous allegations, such as the story of Hamas “beheading 40 babies‘ made headlines and the front pages of countless western news outlets. Even Biden claimed to have seen “confirmed photos of terrorists beheading babies.” The claims trace back to Israeli reserve settler and soldier David Ben Zion, who has previously incited violent riots against Palestinians and called for the West Bank town of Huwara to be wiped out. No evidence was ever produced to support these claims and the White House itself confirmed later that Joe Biden had never seen such photos.

The Hamas plan

There is little to no credible evidence that Palestinian fighters had a plan to – or deliberately sought to – kill or harm unarmed Israeli civilians on 7 October. From the available footage, we witness them engaging primarily with armed Israeli forces, accounting for the deaths of hundreds of occupation soldiers. As Qassam Brigades’ Spokesman Abu Obeida made clear on 12 October:

“Al-Aqsa Flood operation aimed to destroy the Gaza Division (an Israeli army unit on Gaza’s borders) which was attacked at 15 points, followed by attacking 10 further military intervention points. We attacked the Zikim site and several other settlements outside the Gaza Division headquarters.”

Abu Obeida and other resistance officials claims that the other key objective of their operation was to take Israeli prisoners that they could exchange for the approximately 5,300 Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli detention centers, many of whom are women and children.

Hamas Deputy Head of the Political Bureau of Saleh Al-Arouri, in an interview after the operation, stressed: “We have a large and qualitative number and senior officers. All we can say now is that the freedom of our prisoners is at the doorstep.”

Both sides play this game: Since the start of its military assault on Gaza, Israel has rounded up and imprisoned more than 1,200 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. To date there have been 38 prisoner exchange deals between the resistance factions and Tel Aviv – deals that Israelis often resist to the very last minute.

While these kinds of testimonies trickle out, reports are emerging that Israeli authorities have dialed up the mistreatment, torture, and even killing of Palestinian prisoners in their custody – a violation of the Geneva Conventions, which ironically, a non-state actor like Hamas appears to have followed to the letter.

In relation to the events of 7 October, there are certainly some videos depicting possibly unarmed Israelis, killed in their vehicles or at entrances to facilities, so that Palestinian troops could gain access.

There are also videos which show the fighters engaging in shootouts with armed Israeli forces, where there were unarmed Israelis taking cover in between, in addition to videos of fighters shooting toward houses and throwing grenades into fortified areas. Eyewitness testimony also suggests grenades were thrown into bomb shelters, though by whom is unclear.

Even at the Israeli “peace rave”, which has been cited as the single deadliest attack committed by Palestinian fighters during their operation, videos emerged that appeared to show Israeli forces opening fire through a crowd of unarmed civilians, toward targets they believed to be Hamas members. ABC News also reported that an Israeli tank had headed to the site of the festival.

An Israeli massacre in Kibbutz Be’eri?

In its report on the events at Be’eri Kibbutz, ABC News photographed artillery pieces resembling Israeli munitions outside a bombed-out home. The reporter, David Muir, mentioned that Hamas fighters, covered in plastic bags, were found in the aftermath.

Additionally, videos of the scene show homes that appear to have been struck by munitions that Hamas fighters did not possess. Muir reported that about 14 people were held hostage in a building by Palestinian fighters.

A Hebrew-language Haaretz article published on 20 October, which only appears in English in a must-read Mondoweiss article, paints a very different story of what went down in Be’eri that day. A Kibbutz resident who had been away from his home – whose partner was killed in the melee – reveals stunning new details:

“His voice trembles when his partner, who was besieged in her home shelter at the time, comes to mind. According to him, only on Monday night (9 October) and only after the commanders in the field made difficult decisions — including shelling houses with all their occupants inside in order to eliminate the terrorists along with the hostages — did the IDF complete the takeover of the kibbutz. The price was terrible: at least 112 Be’eri people were killed. Others were kidnapped. Yesterday, 11 days after the massacre, the bodies of a mother and her son were discovered in one of the destroyed houses. It is believed that more bodies are still lying in the rubble.”

Photo evidence of the destruction in Be’eri corroborates his account. Only the heavy munitions of the Israeli army could have destroyed residential homes in this manner.

Aftermath or Be’eri Kibbutz after the fire power of the two sides ceased

Hamas behaviors: Evidence vs allegations

Yasmin Porat, a survivor from Kibbutz Be’eri, said in an interview for an Israeli radio-show, hosted by state-broadcaster Kan, that Israeli forces “eliminated everyone, including the hostages,” going on to state that “there was very, very heavy crossfire” and even noted tank shelling.

Porat had attended the Nova rave and testified to the humane treatment throughout different interviews she conducted with Israeli media. She explained that when she was held prisoner, the Hamas fighters “guarded us”, telling her in Hebrew to “Look at me well, we’re not going to kill you. We want to take you to Gaza. We are not going to kill you. So be calm, you’re not going to die.” She also added the following:

“They give us something to drink here and there. When they see we are nervous they calm us down. It was very frightening but no one treated us violently. Luckily nothing happened to me like what I heard in the media.”

Increasingly, and to the horror of some Israeli officials and news outlets, Israeli eyewitnesses and survivors of the bloodshed are testifying that they were treated well by Palestinian fighters. On 24 October, Israeli state broadcaster Kan bemoaned the fact that prisoner Yocheved Lifshitz, released by Hamas the day before, was allowed to make statements live on air.

As she was handed over to Red Cross intermediaries, the elderly Israeli female captive was caught on camera turning back to squeeze the hand of her Hamas captor in her last goodbyes. Lifshitz’s live broadcast, in which she spoke about her two-week ordeal, “humanized” her Hamas captors even further as she recounted her daily life with the fighters:

“They were very friendly toward us. They took care of us. We were given medicine and were treated. One of the men with us was badly injured in a motorbike accident. Their (Hamas) paramedics looked after his wounds, he was given medicine and antibiotics. The people were friendly. They kept the place very clean. They were very concerned about us.”

More questions than answers

It is essential to recognize that in many reports by western journalists on the ground, the majority of information regarding the actions of Hamas fighters comes from the Israeli army – an active participant in the conflict.

Emerging evidence now indicates that there is a high probability, especially due to the scale of the infrastructural damage, that Israeli military forces could have deliberately killed captives, fired on incorrect targets, or mistaken Israelis for Palestinians in their firefights. If the only source of information for a serious claim made is the Israeli army, then it has to be taken into account that they have reason to conceal cases of friendly fire.

Israeli friendly fire was rampant, even in the days that followed, from an army with very little actual combat experience. In the city of Ashkelon (Askalan) on 8 October, Israeli soldiers shot dead and shouted insults at the body of a man they believed to have been a Hamas fighter, yet later realized they had executed a fellow Israeli. This is just one of three such examples of friendly fire in one day, resulting in the killing of Israelis by their own troops.

Amid the fog of war, parties to the conflict have different perspectives on what occurred during the initial raid and its aftermath. It’s not disputed that Palestinian armed groups inflicted significant losses on the Israeli military, but there will be plenty of ongoing debate regarding everything else in the weeks and months to come.

An independent, impartial, international investigation is urgently needed, one that has access to information from all sides involved in the conflict. Neither the Israelis nor the Americans will agree to this, which itself suggests that Tel Aviv has much to conceal.

In the meantime, Palestinian civilians in Gaza endure ongoing, indiscriminate attacks with the most sophisticated heavy weapons in existence, living under the persistent threat of forced and potentially irreversible displacement. This Israeli air blitz was made possible only by the flood of unsubstantiated ‘Hamas atrocities’ stories that media began to circulate on and after 7 October.

Wed October 25, 2023

The total death toll of the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip since the October 7 is 6,546 citizens, including 2,704 children, 1,584 women, and 364 elderly people. In addition, 17,439 citizens were injured.

Israeli forces attacked 44 place in Gaza and killed 756 citizens in the past 24 hours.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza has received 1,600 reports of missing people still under the rubble, including 900 children.

Ministry of Health-Gaza caders’ either attacked and killed or displaced which led to the inability of these caders to reach hospitals, and thus the hospitals are working with 30% of the medical staff.

Twelve hospitals and 32 health care centers are now out of service due to direct and indirect Israeli targeting and a lack of fuel due to the ongoing siege.

Direct targeting of the Health system led to damaging 57 health facilities, killing 73 health personnel, and destroying 25 ambulances.

Despite emergency procedures doubling their bed capacity, hospitals can no longer provide even basic clinical care.

The Ministry of Health considers the health care system in the Gaza Strip to be completely unusable, ineffective and collapsed.

Keeping the hospitals open does not mean they are able to provide health services to the flood of wounded. Hundreds of cases are being delayed for several days from important surgeries due to the enormous number of serious and complex cases.
[25/10, 16:06] Maysoun Hussien- moh: Despite emergency procedures doubling their bed capacity, hospitals can no longer provide even basic clinical care.

The Ministry of Health considers the healthcare system in the Gaza Strip to be completely unusable, ineffective and collapsed.

Keeping the hospitals open does not mean they are able to provide health services to the flood of wounded. Hundreds of cases are being delayed for several days from important surgeries due to the enormous number of serious and complex cases.

There are hundreds of cases in hospital wards that cannot receive even minor medical intervention due to a lack of resources and lack of personnel.

More than 7 thousand sick and injured people need urgent intervention, but the health system is unable to provide medical services due to the lack of personnel and medical supplies.

Turning hospitals into shelter centers for thousands of citizens hinders the provision of safe medical services, and endangers the lives of the wounded who are suffering from severe burns.

People who fled to the hospitals asking for protection and safety are now living in an inappropriate environment in which there is not enough water or personal hygiene and epidemics and diseases are spreading rapidly among them.

We call on Israeli forces to allow the flow of medical and humanitarian assistance in accordance with international law to save the lives of innocent civilians, the majority of whom are women, children, and the elderly.

We call on Israeli forces to allow the immediate entry of fuel to allow hospitals to function and save thousands of wounded and sick civilians, the majority of whom are women, children, and the elderly.

We call on the Arab Republic of Egypt to open the Rafah crossing immediately to medical aid, and fuel and to refer the wounded and sick for treatment elsewhere.

We call on the international community to hold Israel, Egypt, and other parties accountable and exert maximum pressure to ensure international laws and norms are met immediately.

We call on all countries of the world to send specialized medical delegations to help treat those patients wounded by Israeli attacks

44 medical facilities went out of service in the Gaza strip even as the
number of whole families killed and injured every hour and every day
continue to increase. 50 in one bombing, 30 in another. These are
not numbers these are children, wmen, elderly who are intentionally bombed
increasing with new kind of weapons. They are HUMAN BEINGS like you and I
(it seems painful that we have to remind this). Thousands of children were
now massacred. They die now increasingly because their severe burns or
traumatic macerated limbs cannot get surgeries because all medical supplies
ran out. There is no safe place in Gaza. Food and water ran out. The links
I sent prove genocide. No it is not Hamas that Israel is fighting (they
have not touched Hamas): It is a GENOCIDE,

Politicians try to be diplomatic. Arab “leaders” (including Mahmoud Abbas)
continue to simply utter speeches (weak ones at that) and not do anything
practical to help. PFrench President Macron says he cares about Palestinian
lives and wants a two state solution while claiming Israel is engaged in
self defense. Biden says ceasefire give a win to Hamas and continues to
deliver more bombs to obliterate the population of Gaza. Israeli leaders
continue to threaten even more carnage. Gaza is literally being wiped out.
Speeches will not stop this because Israel showed that it can manipulate
western leaders with veto power at the UN. Russia and China have also not
done anything practical. Even thousands of Palestinian prisoners are being
starved and denied medical care and even torured to death (two in in two
days). Thousands of children were massacred and tens of thousands more are
now being massacred or will die because of lack of water and food and
treatments. leading and begging criminals like Macron, Biden, and Netanyahu
will not stop the carnage. To hell with this silent world. Let it be known

🚨Israeli violations against the health system led to the death of 65 medical staff and the destruction of 25 ambulances and putting them out of service
🚨We confirm that 12 hospitals and 32 health centers are out of service, and we fear that more will be out of service in the coming hours due to targeting and running out of fuel
🚨The Ministry of Health announces the complete collapse of hospitals in the Gaza Strip
🚨Hospital doors remaining open does not mean that they are providing service to the flood of wounded people flowing into them
🚨Hundreds of cases are delayed in arriving to operating rooms for several days due to the enormous pressure of serious and complex injuries
🚨Medical teams differentiate between cases to try to save any life, and critical cases are increasing.
🚨Hundreds of cases are lying on the ground without even simple medical intervention due to the lack of capabilities and lack of personnel
🚨The mechanism for bringing in medical aid is fragile and the collapsed hospitals have not been helped until this moment
🚨We call on all parties to ensure the flow of medical aid according to hospital priorities to save the wounded

🚨We call on the international community to quickly supply hospitals with fuel to save thousands of wounded and sick people.

🚨* We call on the Arab Republic of Egypt to open the Rafah land crossing and ensure the flow of medical aid and fuel and the exit of the wounded and sick.
🚨We call on all countries of the world to send specialized medical delegations to rescue those wounded in the Israeli aggression.
🚨We call on all retired colleagues and volunteers from all specialties to join hospitals immediately.
🚨Medical teams find it extremely difficult to deal with burn injuries and the increasing skin melting of those wounded in the Israeli aggression
